Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward might have said earlier this week that he does not want any ‘short-term fix’ in the January transfer window, but he has been offered one in the shape of Croatian right-back Darijo Srna.
The 32-year-old currently plays for Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, but according to the Daily Mail today intermediaries are trying to get Srna a move to Old Trafford.
It isn’t certain whether these intermediaries are just chancers eyeing up an opportunity or if they are people with links to Srna. But the 120-cap Croatia international is being offered to United as back up for Rafael. Barcelona full-back Dani Alves is also being linked with interest from Old Trafford.
United are more likely to wait until the summer before adding to their ranks and probably won’t pursue the Srna option.
