United Linked With Milan Defender
The France international has only been at the San Siro on a permanent basis since the summer and is already being linked with an exit.
Rami left Valencia in January after falling out with the La Liga side’s management and moved to Milan on loan for the rest of last season. He impressed enough at Milan for the Serie A side to take up an option to make the deal permanent. However, he had to pay £500,000 of the £3.9million transfer fee out of his own pocket.
But Rami is being linked with a £10million move to Manchester United. Sources in Italy are suggesting that Milan’s economic situation could force them to sell Rami in the winter transfer window. The chance to more than double their money after less than six months appeals to the Serie A outfit.
But Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has already played down fans’ expectations for the winter transfer market by suggesting that any January transfers would merely be a ‘short-term fix’.
A move for Rami looks unlikely. In any case, United would face competition from their local rivals Manchester City who have also been linked with the 28-year-old.
Bale, Ronaldo Story Comes Round Again
Meanwhile, reports from France have repeated a story doing the rounds in the UK last week that Manchester United are to sell Angel Di Maria in order to fund a move for either Gareth Bale or Cristiano Ronaldo.
The agents of both Bale and Ronaldo have denied in the past that either player will be leaving Real Madrid. Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett insists his client is happy at the Bernabeu, while Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes said last month that he will retire at the Spanish club.
The story appears to be a non-starter.
