Cech In Arsenal Link
The Daily Star – never the most accurate of sources – claims the Czech Republic international is set to move to the Emirates during the winter transfer window having become disillusioned about playing second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge.
The report sounds extremely unlikely to be true and the Star hints at outlets in the Czech Republic as its source.
But Cech won’t move to any club where he isn’t guaranteed first-team football. That appears to rule out Arsenal.
Also, Arsene Wenger spent over £3million last summer on Colombian World Cup keeper David Ospina to replace Lukasz Fabianski, who left for Swansea. There is no good reason for him to spend another £7million on a keeper unless first-choice Wojciech Szczesny is about to be replaced.
The prospects of an Arsenal transfer move for Petr Cech appear to be slim.
Praet ‘Almost Good Enough For Arsenal’
The agent of Anderlecht youngster Dennis Praet says the youngster is almost good enough to play for Arsenal.
Praet, 20, was linked with Arsenal over a year ago when we reported that he had been watched by scouts from the Emirates playing for Anderlecht in a Champions League match with Paris Saint-Germain.
The youngster’s agent, Jacques Lichtenstein, told Belgian magazine Sport-Foot that it is time for him to move on from Anderlecht.
“He has played in several European campaigns here and helped win three consecutive titles. What could one more season in Belgium give him?
“Clubs like Valencia, Liverpool, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are real possibilities. Dynamo Kiev is not, for example.
“Dennis has to be on a team that ‘plays’ football. He is not far from the level of a team like Arsenal.
“But I never push a player into a departure transfer. You do not make a career of over 20 years without a long-term vision.”
Despite his age, Praet already has over 100 appearances for Anderlecht to his name. He made his international debut for Belgium in the recent 3-1 friendly win over Iceland.
Meanwhile, another former Arsenal target Wilfried Bony has signed a contract extension with Swansea City. The Ivory Coast international has signed a new deal that could keep him at the Welsh club until 2018.
Bony was linked with Arsenal during the summer but his £19million valuation deterred any bid.
