Khedira, 27, is out of contract in the summer and Spanish radio station Cadena SER reported on Wednesday that he won’t be signing a new contract with Real Madrid. The same outlet reported on Thursday that he is set to join Bayern on a free transfer when his contract expires on 30 June 2015.
Arsenal were linked with Khedira during the summer, but talks about a deal were scuppered when it was reported that he was demanding €9million a year in wages – the equivalent of £135,000 a week.
Cadena SER claims talks have been going on since the summer over a possible deal wth Bayern. That report flies in the face of the suggestion made recently that Khedira had asked his agent to talk to Real Madrid over a possible new contract. The Spanish side seem to have thrown out that proposal, largely because they recruited the likes of Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez in the summer to boost their midfield. They now have no need for Khedira.
The Germany international lowered his demands from Real down to €5.5million a year. Bayern are apparently prepared to pay €4million. That’s £60,000 a week and less than half the wages Khedira was demanding this summer.
