Manchester United winger Nani hasn’t ruled out a return to Old Trafford. The Portugal international is currently on a season-long loan back at his former club Sporting Lisbon which was negotiated as part of the deal that took Marcos Rojo from Sporting to United in August.
After returning to Old Trafford, where he played for Portugal in last night’s friendly international with Argentina, Nani was asked whether he could foresee himself returning to United.
“Why not?” he replied. “I went out to play more and get to my best. If there is an opportunity, we will see.”
Of his time with Sporting he said: “It’s great. I’m doing well. I’m trying to do my best. Things are going well and I hope it continues like that.”
Nani was involved in an incident with the player who replaced him at Old Trafford, Angel Di Maria. The Argentine was caught on the foot by Nani during the first half of Portugal’s 1-0 victory. While Di Maria was able to carry on until the hour mark he was substituted and taken to hospital for an X-ray scan.
“Some images that have been taken but in spite of that we don’t think it is too serious,” Argentina coach Gerardo Martino said after the match.
Di Maria was also hopeful. “It was just a blow,” he wrote on his Twitter account. “I hope it does not swell anymore so I can play at the weekend.”
