Cerci Set For January Exit?

Alessio Cerci Arsenal transferArsenal transfer target Alessio Cerci could be sold by Atletico Madrid in January. The Italy international has failed to settle this season at the Vicente Calderon Stadium and has played just 125 minutes of football spread over six substitute appearances: four in La Liga and two in the Champions League.

Cerci was linked with interest from Arsenal prior to his move from Torino to Atletico at the end of August, but manager Arsene Wenger either wasn’t interested in Cerci or he was slow off the mark as the 27-year-old headed off to Atletico Madrid.

Atletico paid €16million (£13million) for a player who was rated at £16million prior to his move to Spain.

The Spanish champions bought ten new players during the summer but only four of those players are amongst the eleven with the most minutes played this season. Cerci isn’t one of those and may be moved on in January. The Daily Express claims Manchester United are also interested having been linked earlier in the summer.

But reports from both Spain and Italy claim that Inter Milan are also hot on the trail. The Serie A side have been linked with a number of players – including Arsenal’s Joel Campbell – since Roberto Mancini was appointed coach last week.

The Madrid newspaper AS claims that contact has already been made between Inter and Atletico. Any move is likely to be initially on loan with the option of a permanent move in the summer.

Arsenal To Miss Out On Hummels?

Meanwhile, Arsenal transfer target Mats Hummels is likely to join Manchester United next summer, if the Daily Star is to be believed.

The Germany international has had a £47million price tag put on his head by Dortmund and has been linked with both Arsenal and United. The Star claims Hummels will be heading to Old Trafford next summer. United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has ruled out a January move unless Dortmund puts Hummels up for sale.

Arsenal need a new centre back but Arsene Wenger is unlikely to write out a cheque for £47million.

No Approaches For Krychowiak

La Liga side Sevilla say there has been no contact over their Polish midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak. Arsenal are one of a number of clubs being linked with the 24-year-old who only arrived at Sevilla from French side Reims in the summer.

“Nothing” said Sevilla sporting director Monchi when asked about whether there have been any approaches for Krychowiak.

At present, Arsenal are only scouting the Poland international, who has played only 12 times in the league for Sevilla. Should their interest be maintained then an approach is more likely when the transfer window opens in January.
