Alves, Pedro Linked With €40m PSG Move
The Ligue 1 side were linked with Alves during the summer. But rumours of a possible £10million bid failed to materialise into anything concrete with PSG hamstrung by restrictions put on them after breaching Uefa’s Financial Fair Play rules.
Now, Spanish website Fichajes.net claims the French club are set to make a double bid ahead of Arsenal for both players and that they are prepared to pay as much as €40million (£32million) in January.
Pedro is known to be unhappy about the amount of game time he has received at Barcelona since the arrival from Liverpool of Luis Suarez and he is now looking at a move.
Alves is out of contract next summer and Barcelona have yet to open talks about a new deal. Manchester City and Manchester have also been linked.
But, as ever with Barcelona, much depends on their appeal against a worldwide transfer embargo imposed by Fifa over the illegal transfer of players under the age of 18. The appeal will be heard before the end of the year.
If Barcelona fail to have the embargo lifted then it will be all the more difficult for either player to leave. In that case, Alves is likely to be offered a one-year contract extension while Pedro is likely to find his exit blocked by the club.
Arsenal are still looking at a loan deal for Barcelona youngster Munir, who may be allowed to leave during the second half of the season. Joel Campbell is expected to leave the Emirates after just two brief substitute appearances for the club this season. Inter Milan are interested.
