Chelsea central defender David Luiz could be a target for both Bayern Munich and Barcelona during this month’s transfer window. Reports from Germany this morning claim that Bayern coach Pep Guardiola is keen to bring the Chelsea defender to the Allianz Arena. Guardiola scouted the Brazil international when he was coach at Barcelona.
Bayern lost defensive midfielder Luiz Gustavo to Wolfsburg last summer while central defender Jan Kirchhoff is to join Schalke 04 on loan for the rest of the season. Luiz can play in both positions and is seen as a possible alternative.
However, Barcelona are reported to be back in the hunt for Luiz. The Catalan giants saw two bids rejected by Chelsea last summer although Luiz has told Brazilian newspaper Gazeta Esportiva that the decision to stay at Stamford Bridge was his alone.
At the time Chelsea told Barcelona that they would only entertain bids in the region of 50million euro (£42million). Now, The Independent claims a bid of £25million would suffice.
The paper adds that Chelsea are keen on St Etienne central defender Kurt Zouma. The 19-year-old has been linked with a number of top European clubs including Manchester City and Manchester United.
