Spurs Keen On Bernard
Spurs are the latest Premier League side to be linked with interest in Brazilian midfielder Bernard. The 20-year-old was linked with interest from Chelsea during the January transfer window but the Sunday Mirror claims Tottenham are keen though they may face competition for his signature from beaten Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund.
Bernard is expected to leave Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro this summer and has been told by his countryman, Bayern Munich defender Dante, to consider a move to Germany.
“I explained the philosophy in Germany,” said Dante. “He would fit in perfectly and can enrich European football even if he is not physically strong. He would fit perfectly at Dortmund.”
Bernard is 5ft 6in (1.68 metres) tall and weighs less than 60kg (9 ½ stone or 133lbs) but Atletico president Alexandre Kalil says there is more chance of him making the move to the Premier League
“A German club was here and talked to me. However, they are again left without talking about money. I have negotiated directly with the presidents of Premier League clubs and at the moment, that is has the better chance.”
Tottenham are also being linked with Fulham winger Alex Kacaniklic and could use Tm Huddlestone as the makeweight in any deal.
