Cardiff Linked With French Striker
Newly-promoted Cardiff City are being linked with a move for Lyon striker Bafétimbi Gomis.
French newspaper L’Equipe claims that the 27-year-old, who has scored 18 goals in 40 games for Lyon this season, is wanted by the Welsh club who are rumoured to have around £30million to spend this summer. Gomis is out of contract at the end of next season and Lyon could be persuaded to part with the France international as they seek to cut their wage bill.
Gomis moved to Lyon from Troyes in 2009 and has a goalscoring rate of 90 goals in 189 games for the French club. However, he is also wanted by Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen. The German outfit have qualified for the group stages of next season’s Champions League after securing third place in the Bundesliga and he could opt for a side with a higher profile as he seeks to make the France squad for the 2014 World Cup finals.
Gomis has three goals in 10 international games for France and made his last appearance for Les Bleus in the 1-0 win in Finland last September.
