Football Transfer Deadline Day News Thursday 31 January


Everton complete a deal for Barnsley full-back John Stones.


No move to QPR for West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie says Rs boss Harry Redknapp. Odemwingie turned up unannounced at Loftus Road this evening but was turned away as West Brom refused permission for him to speak to the club. Redknapp confirmed that Spurs midfielder Andros Townsend has joined QPR on loan.


Birmingham City goalkeeper Jack Butland has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with Stoke City. Fee is believed to be as little as £3m.(Official).


Nacho Monreal has completed his move to Arsenal from Malaga. He has signed a four-and-a-half year deal on £60,000 a week. Fee; £8.5m.


Stoke City set to keep Peter Crouch and Kenwyne Jones. Crouch was linked with interest from QPR while Jones was linked earlier today with Swansea City.


Spurs forward Simon Dawkins has joined Aston Villa for the rest of the season. The 22-year-old has spent the last two summers at the San Jose Earthquakes and is out of contract this summer. Dawkins scored 14 goals in 53 games for San Jose.


One from Spain. Barcelona’s Isaac Cuenca has joined Ajax on loan for the remainder of the season. He has previously been linked with Arsenal.


Norwich City have ended their interest in Celtic striker Gary Hooper. The Canaries had five bids rejected by the SPL side, the latter said to be in excess of £9m.


Striker Mouhamadou Habib Habibou is to join Leeds United on loan from Belgian side Zulte Waregem.


More on Everton’s Magaye Gueye. He looks set to move back to France on loan with Ligue 1 side Brest being mentioned as one possibility.


News from Everton: John Stones looks set to move from Barnsley. The teenage full-back will move for around £3m and was linked earlier today with interest from Wigan Athletic. A move for Sevilla’s Alvaro Negredo has failed. Magaye Gueye looks set to go back to France on loan. Rumours that Wes Brown is moving to Goodison Park are false.


Stoke City has confirmed that Brek Shea has completed his move from FC Dallas.


West Ham United goalkeeper Stephen Henderson has gone back to Ipswich Town on loan. Henderson was linked earlier this week with a move to Blackburn with Paul Robinson going the other way.


Spurs bid for Internacional striker Leandro Damiao is dead according to the BBC. A move for Lyon’s Lisandro Lopez has also failed.


More on QPR. The BBC are reporting that they have triggered the £3.5m release clause in Mohamed Diame’s contract with West Ham United.


Peter Odemwingie on a possible move to QPR. “I’m not disappointed with West Brom, but this is a new chapter in my life,” he told Sky Sports. “I loved my time with West Brom. I’m very excited about playing for QPR, everyone wants to see if I can make it, and I’m happy with the trust the manager has shown in me.”


Jermaine Jenas signs an 18-month deal with QPR.


Leeds United have signed defender Stephen Warnock from Aston Villa. The 31-year-old spent the early part of the season on loan at Leeds’ Championship rivals Bolton Wanderers and was linked earlier this week with interest from West Ham United.


Blackburn Rovers in talks with QPR striker DJ Campbell.


Fulham’s bid for Roma ‘keeper Maarten Stekelenburg is off after the Italian transfer passed at 6pm local time this evening without the Serie A side finding a replacement. Stekelenburg was at Rome airport ready to board a plane to London when the news was broken to him.


Arsenal closing in on Malaga left-back Nacho Monreal according to reports from Spain.Details here.


Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala have signed Shakhtar Donetsk striker Willian for a fee of around £34million. The Brazilian has been linked with Chelsea over the past year but the Blues were unable to match Shakhtar’s asking price.


Spurs youngster Andros Townsend’s loan move to QPR could be back on. The Rs’ looked to have pulled the plug on the deal after Townsend arrived at the club’s training ground for a medical this morning but Sky Sports News reports the deal is back on.


David Beckham has passed his medical and will be unveiled as a Paris Saint-Germain player at 4pm UK time today.


Barnsley have cancelled the contract of Egypt international Mido by mutual consent. Defender Lee Collins has also had his contract cancelled. Former Spurs midfielder Mido made just one appearance for the Tykes when he came on as a substitute in their home defeat by Huddersfield in November. The 29-year-old struggled for fitness since arriving in South Yorkshire last summer.


Kieron Dyer has signed for Middlesbrough on a pay-as-you-pay basis.


QPR have bid £3.5m for West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie. The Baggies are looking for £5m.


Stoke City have signed England international goalkeeper Jack Butland from Birmingham City in a deal worth just under £5million. Butland is expected to be loaned back to Birmingham for the rest of the season.(Sky Sports News)

Rumours: Wigan Athletic have bid £3m for Barnsley full-back John Stones. Blackpool striker Kevin Phillips is being linked with a move to Crystal Palace where he would be reunited with former Seasiders boss Ian Holloway. Fulham are keen on Bolton Wanderers striker David Ngog.


Liverpool keeper Alexander Doni looks set to return to Brazil. The keeper, who has made just four appearances since arriving from Roma in 2011.


Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo won’t be joining Everton says his agent. The Spanish striker has been linked with a move to Goodison Park following yesterday’s collapse of a deal with Twente for Leroy Fer. Reports from Spain today suggested the Toffees were willing to bid as much as 15million euro (£12million) for Negredo.


Celtic have rejected Norwich City’s fourth bid for striker Gary Hooper. Earlier, Norwich signed striker Luciano Becchio from Leeds United on a three-and-a-half year deal with Steve Morison heading to Elland Road.


Stoke City boss Tony Pulis on his way to London for Brek Shea’s work permit hearing. The 22-year-old looks set to move from FC Dallas for around £2.5million.


After reports today that Spurs’ Andros Townsend was set to move to QPR on loan he apparently turned up at Loftus Road for his medical only to be told that the move was off and he was to go back to Tottenham.


More on the Becchio to Norwich deal. It seems Canaries’ striker Steve Morison will move to Leeds United on a three-and-a-half year contract as part of the deal with Becchio moving to Carrow Road.”Even before Luciano put in his transfer request we’d enquired about Steve – he was at the top of my list to bring in,” Leeds boss Neil Warnock said.


Sunderland set to sign striker Danny Graham from Swansea. Fee believed to be around £5m. More details here.


Spurs goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes looks set to move to Germany. The Brazilian hasn’t played for Tottenham this season but says on his Twitter account that he is off to Germany for a medical. Bundesliga side Hoffenheim are believed to be keen.


Norwich City appear to be close to a deal for Leeds United striker Luciano Becchio. Further to our earlier report about Norwich’s bid for the Leeds striker, he has had a medical with the Canaries and is expected to be confirmed as a Norwich player later today. The deal is expected to finally put an end to the Canaries’ pursuit of Celtic striker Gary Hooper after the SPL side turned down a third bid from Norwich yesterday.


Wigan Athletic have signed centre-back Paul Scharner on loan from Hamburg. Scharner, 32, who played for Wigan from 2006 to 2010, moves back to the DW Stadium for the rest of the season. He was linked earlier this week with interest from Sunderland. Scharner moved to Hamburg on a free transfer from West Brom last summer but the 32-year-old has played just four Bundesliga games for the club.

David Beckham is to undergo a medical at French side Paris Saint-Germain, according to a number of sources. Paris newspaper Le Parisien reported this morning that he is set to arrive at the French club and that a press conference has been called for 4pm UK time this afternoon.

After being linked with a move to Sunderland earlier this week Swansea City striker Danny Graham could be set to step down a division as Championship side Middlesbrough are said to be interested.


Norwich City are in talks with Leeds United over the transfer of striker Luciano Becchio according to Sky Sports. Becchio put in an official transfer request to the Championship side earlier this month.

Today’s transfer rumours to start us off:

QPR are set to sign former Blackburn Rovers defender Christopher Samba from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala. The Congo international has a £10million release clause in his contract with the Russian outfit whose coach Guus Hiddink says Samba has left “without even saying goodbye.” Reports claim Samba could earn as much as £100,000 a week at Loftus Road.

Stoke City striker Kenwyne Jones could be on his way to Aston Villa after pricing himself out of a move to Swansea. Stoke want to move on the former Sunderland player, ironically to help fund a move for Villa’s Darren Bent.

Wigan Athletic could be in for Spartak Moscow winger Aiden McGeady. The former Celtic man was linked with a move from Latics earlier this week but the £5million transfer fee and his wage demands were said to be too high. Speculation this morning claims the deal could still be a go-er.
