Sahin Coming Round To Reds Move
Liverpool are closing in on a loan deal for Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin.
The Reds have been linked with a move for the 23-year-old Turkey international thanks largely to the close personal friendship Real coach Jose Mourinho has with Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers from their time together at Chelsea. Mourinho has no such relationship with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and the Portugese coach has apparently been in constant contact with Rodgers over a deal for Sahin.
Reports from Spain claim that although Sahin’s preference is to move to Arsenal he is coming round to the idea of a season at Anfield, but there is another factor at the Bernabeu apparently working on Liverpool’s behalf and that’s former Anfield hero Xabi Alonso. Spanish newspaper Marca claims the ex-Liverpool midfielder has been selling to Sahin the benefits of a move to Anfield rather than to Arsenal.
Sahin has been told he won’t get much game time with Real this season and none at all if Luka Modric arrives from Spurs, a move which should happen later this week. Although he initially said he wanted to fight for his place at the Bernabeu, Sahin found himself playing at right-back rather than in midfielder during the side’s recent US tour games.
The deal isn’t quite done as Sahin still prefers Arsenal and hasn’t been entirely won round, but the feeling is that a deal will be done for the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder over the next few days.
Adam Linked With Toffees
Liverpool are ready to sell midfielder Charlie Adam to Everton for a knock-down price of £5million, according to the Daily Mirror.
New boss Brendan Rodgers is ready to off-load the Scot just a year after his predecessor Kenny Dalglish paid Blackpool £9million for the midfielder.
Adam played in 28 Premier League games for Liverpool last season but doesn’t appear to be in the plans of Brendan Rodgers and the paper suggests he is being offered to other Premier League clubs.
Everton boss David Moyes is keen on Adam and his brother Kenny is also Adam’s agent. That particular connection didn’t do him much good last year on the face of it, but the Toffees found Adam out of their price range when he was up for grabs at the start of last season.
If Adam does move to Goodison he will be the first transfer between the two clubs since Gary Ablett in 1992 – 20 years ago.
Moyes is keen to start spending the £15million he got from Manchester City for Jack Rodwell and is also in talks over a deal for Kevin Mirallas of Olympiacos.
